Kate and Jeff Stuttler combined an historic farmstead with a dream … and the result is Heritage House Bed & Breakfast.

“It started out as the Kunze house. It had been in my family since the 1850s and for five generations. We wanted to keep it in the family,” Kate said.

The couple started the remodeling process in 2016 and it took about 13 months to fully renovate the house.

“We might as well not stop there.” Jeff said. “Let’s keep going and in 2017 we began renovation of the barn.”

In April 2018 they opened heritage barn adjacent to the B&B.

Kate calls it “a rustic but elegant venue where you can have graduations, showers, birthday parties and of course weddings.”

“You come here to rest, relax and restore. We have three luxurious suites to relax in. Each suite has a Smart TV with all your fun streaming services. We also offer Wi-Fi and every bedroom has an attached bathroom.”

This year has seen a bit of a shift in clientele.

“A lot of people are doing ‘staycations.’ We get a lot of people from Cleveland, Columbus and the surrounding area who are wanting to come and get a bit of rest in our country setting.”

Jeff said there are some nuances to this B&B.

“It’s the feel of a modern farmhouse. We’ve stayed at several B&Bs and I consider us more of a boutique hotel. We are able to do contact-less check-ins. We have keypads on all our doors and guests can do a self check-in.”

Breakfast is another appeal of staying there, Kate noted.

“The last couple years we’ve partnered with 8 Sisters Bakery, located about a mile from here. They have homemade comfort food and amazing doughnuts that our guests really enjoy.”
