On Saturday, October 3, the Village of Chesterville will hold its 39th annual Heritage Day Festival.

Come enjoy a grand day of entertainment, activities and food! Shop for treasures from the street vendors, enjoy the car show and antique tractor display, and watch the parade that starts at noon. Enjoy songs and storytelling by Bob Ford and try your voice out with karaoke by Karaoke Express. Take a walking tour of Chesterville and learn about its history. Bring the kids to the west lawn of the Methodist Church for games and activities.

Representatives from the Morrow County Red Cross and Emergency Management will be bringing Disaster vehicles to show the public and have information for preparing your home for emergencies. The Morrow County Sheriff’s Department will be offering free Kids ID’s. The Health Department will have activities for the whole family and OSU Extension Office will be there to explain about the services they offer.

Catch lunch from 11am to 2 pm at the Methodist Church, purchase a pie at the Pie Auction, held at 3 pm at the Town House, and come to the Spaghetti Dinner at the Town House from 4-7 pm. Walker’s Supreme Homemade Ice Cream will be dishing up delicious, homemade ice cream.

Many of the businesses in the village will also be offering specials. There will be a variety of craft vendors set up along the street by Lisa’s Hair Affair and Lisa will be raffling off gift baskets. Let an “expert” guess your height or age at Selover Library right before and following the parade. The Chesterville Grocery will offer a free cookie and a drink to those that stop in between 1 and 3 pm. Hidden Treasure Thrift Store and Auto Repair will offer beans and ham with cornbread, from 2 pm until they run out. And Murphy’s Pizza will be serving pizza by the slice for breakfast and lunch.

Top off the day’s activities with Dr. Chester’s Medicine Show on the Town Hall stage at 7 pm. This production, directed by Mike Follin, is reminiscent of the travelling vaudeville shows that have performed on the Chesterville Town Hall stage since the late 1800’s!

Don’t miss a fun-filled day, Saturday, October 3rd, as we celebrate the rich history of Chesterville. To reserve a space in the free, street vendor area, contact Ben Mahan at 419-768-2204. Registration for the car show is from 10 am until 1 pm. Registration for the parade begins at 11 am. Kids are invited to walk in the parade, dressed as their favorite historical character, or decorate their bike and ride in the parade! To join the cast for Dr. Chester’s Medicine Show and to find more information about the Festival, check out the Chesterville Heritage Day Festival Facebook page. See you at the Festival!
