North central Ohio meet winter, part one.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Morrow and Crawford counties, among others. The NWS is forecasting two-to-three inches of total snow accumulation in the greater Columbus area by Wednesday morning.
Areas north and east could receive more with 3-6 inches predicted in the Canton-Akron area.
It will start as widespread rain on Monday, mixing with snow in northwest Ohio. The rain will transition to snow from west to east across the area late Monday afternoon into Tuesday.
“Confidence is increasing that most of the area will see accumulating snowfall with the potential for significant accumulations in some areas,” the NWS report said.
“A transition to lake-effect snow is expected as the system pulls away Tuesday into Wednesday. Snow accumulations will be impacted by both storm track and temperatures which will continue to evolve over the coming days.”
Precipitation, likely a mix of rain and light snow, is expected to continue into Tuesday. Temperatures on Tuesday are forecast to start in the low 20s and rise to about 32 degrees. Wind gusts on Tuesday are predicted to be about 30 mph.
