There soon will be signs showing up all around the county for the Awakening event to be held Sept. 17, 18, and 19 at the Morrow County Fairgrounds.

Sheriff Steve Brenneman has led and united a committed group of area Christians in planning a three day revival awakening event. After a year of prayer and a call for Morrow County citizens to join together, Christians throughout Morrow County are uniting to organize a Wake Up call for Morrow County and beyond.

Brenneman said programs at the event will include music from Praise Teams of the Edison Enterprise Baptist Church and Fulton Vineyard Church. The Band Crosswalk from Louisville, Kentucky will have music for the Teen and Young Adult Program on Saturday afternoon. Speakers will include Sheriff Brenneman on Thursday and Saturday and Ron Ellyson on Friday. Yvette Gonzales will be telling her story on Friday of being at the World Trade Center on 9/11.

Brandon Hayes and Steve Bloomfield will be speaking and there are more details to be announced.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Sept. 17, 18, and 19. There will be a program for Teens and Young Adults on Sat. Sept. 19th at 2 p.m. and a Free Community Meal on Sat. Sept. 19 at 4:30 p.m. The events will be held at the Grandstand at the Morrow County Fairgrounds each day.

Sheriff Brenneman talked about the many problems with drugs and drug overdoses in Morrow County recently as well as in neighboring counties. He can see there is a need for healing here that the world is not providing. So far he sees that what people are searching for can’t be found in what society is offering.

“We want to bring hope to the hopeless, help to the helpless, healing to the hurting and truth to the deceived,” Brenneman stated.

Dixie Shinaberry is working with the committee to plan events and she said volunteers are needed to park cars, greet people, serve food or work with children and youth ministry. For volunteering, donating, or more information or questions Shinaberry directs people to Facebook Awakening Morrow County or www.awakeningmorrowcounty.com. Signs and posters for the event are also available for posting in your yard.

Fresh Faith Community Church is the Contact at 4444 St. Rt. 95 in Mount Gilead. Email contact is [email protected].

“All are welcome to attend this event whether you’re from Morrow County. Marion, Knox or beyond,” Brenneman concluded.
