STATE MEETINGS PLANNED – The Board of Building Appeals will meet on Monday, August 10, at 8:30 a.m. at the Ohio Department of Transportation, District Three Office, Conference Room, 906 Clark Avenue, Ashland.

The Board of Building Appeals reviews appeals to adjudication orders issued by the Division of Industrial Compliance, Bureaus of Building Code Compliance and Operations and Maintenance, or by any certified local or county enforcement agency. The Board also reviews appeals made to fire citations issued by the State Fire Marshal or any local fire department with a certified fire safety inspector. The Board can reverse or modify orders of the enforcing agencies and can also grant vacancies and exemptions to certain code requirements.

The Ohio Banking Commission will meet on Tuesday, August 11, at 10 a.m. at the Division of Financial Institutions, 77 South High Street, 21st Floor, Columbus.

The Banking Commission advises the Superintendent of Financial Institutions and the Deputy Superintendent for Banks on any matters submitted to it by the Division of Financial Institutions and confirms the annual schedule of assessments.

TEA PARTY MEETING PLANNED – Mansfield North Central Ohio Tea Party Association will meet 7-9 p.m. Aug. 10 at Wyandotte Senior Center, 1164 Wyandotte Ave. Mansfield.

OHIO WOMAN FOUND GUILTY OF ANTIFREEZE MURDER – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Ashtabula County Sheriff William Johnson announced the conviction of an Ohio woman for the poisoning death of her husband in 2009.

Following a bench trial in Ashtabula County Common Pleas Court, Judge Gary Yost today found Teresa Kotomski, 55, guilty of one count of murder for the death of Raymond Kotomski, 65, who died on August 16, 2009, several days after he was found unconscious inside his Pierpont, Ohio, home. An autopsy found that he died as a result of complications from ethylene glycol toxicity. Ethylene glycol is most commonly found in antifreeze.

Immediately following the verdict, Judge Yost sentenced Kotomski to serve 15 years to life in prison.
