CHESTERVILLE — Selover Public Library is inviting everyone to give the gift of warmth this autumn. The library will be setting up a Mitten Tree to collect mittens and gloves.

Collection dates are from Oct. 17 through Nov. 17.

“All donations will be used locally,” said Selover Library Director Suzi Lyle. “We will be giving them to local schools and clothes closets to warm the hands of the people in our community.”

Lyle explained why the library decided to collect mittens before winter officially begins. “It’s Ohio. Sometimes it snows in October.”

The library does ask that the mittens and gloves not be previously worn, but either store-bought or made-by-hand is fine. All sizes are welcome, since some will go to children in schools and others to general clothes closets.

Those wishing to donate can hang their mittens or gloves on the tree anytime Selover Library is open. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 1 to 7:30 p.m.
