7/21/2015 – A car versus motorcycle accident on State Route 288 in Washington Township between State Route 61 and County Road 38 at the railroad crossing sent one woman to a Columbus hospital via Med Flight this afternoon and injured another man.

The crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Preliminary information from the Ohio State Highway Patrol indicates that a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle driven by Jon Carr, 50, of Mansfield was traveling westbound on State Route 288 when it slowed to cross over the railroad tracks. A red Honda SX vehicle, driven by Steven Keller, 28, of Mansfield, did not slow and rear ended the motorcycle.

A female passenger was ejected from the motorcycle and was transported via Med Flight to OSU Hospital in Columbus. Carr was transported via Morrow County EMS to med Central Hospital in Mansfield.

Keller, the driver of the Honda, was uninjured. OSHP stated that Keller will be charged with assured clear distance.

This information is PRELIMINARY and will be updated when a report becomes available from Post 59 of the Highway Patrol.

Also responding to the scene were Iberia Volunteer Fire Department, Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Morrow County EMS, Med Flight and Troopers from Post 59 of the Ohio State Patrol.
