Three of Whetstone’s Special Olympics two-person bocce teams competed in the State Special Olympics Summer Games at OSU on June 23-24.

Bocce is a new sport for Morrow County to compete in, at the state games.

The team of Guy Altizer and Garett Bader won their semi-final match on Friday afternoon. John Higgins and Glenn LaVan dropped their opening round to very tough team from Springfield. The ladies team of Judy Decker and Carissa Plough lost their first match Saturday morning.

On Saturday afternoon, Altizer and Bader came out on top and received gold medals for their effort. Higgins and LaVan won their consolation round to receive bronze medals for their third place finish.

Decker and Plough also received bronze.
