The Mount Gilead Memorial Day Parade will form at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, May 29, at the Cherry Street School. Starting time for the parade is 1 p.m. Leaving the Cherry Street School, following West Union Street, east to Main Street, then south on Main Street to Marion Street, turning left on Marion Street, and proceeding east on Marion Street to the Rivercliff Cemetery. Ceremonies at the cemetery will begin at 1:30 p.m.

A program is planned as follows:

Invocation: Jeff Canankamp, Pastor of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Mount Gilead, Ohio.

Welcome, Pledge of Allegiance and Introductions: Led by Tim Sharrock, U.S. Army Officer during the Vietna.m. Conflict and Mount Gilead resident.

Placing of Flowers: Women’s Relief Corps., Grand Army of the Republic.

General Logan’s Orders: Tim Sharrock.

Following the cemetery services, the parade participants will regroup and move to the Veterans’ Park at the Courthouse on East High Street. A brief ceremony consisting of placing of wreaths by Officers of local Veteran’s organizations, a prayer by Jeff Canankamp, a 21 rifle salute, then taps will conclude the Memorial Day events.

Parade and progra.m. participants and their families are invited to a lunch at the V.F.W. Post 8054, 4960 S.R. 61, Mount Gilead following the ceremony.
