How businesses and agencies can best use social media was the topic of Morrow County Chamber of Commerce speaker Bethany Goodman last Tuesday.

Chris Conant introduced Goodman who presently serves as Assistant Director of March for Life Education and Defense Fund and was a Senior Legislative Assistant in U.S. Congress in Washington, D.C. from 2010 – 2013. Goodman is the wife of State Representative Wes Goodman.

Much of Goodman’s talk was a preview of the April 12 seminar she will facilitate for the Chamber called “What is your Digital Footprint?” She will cover best practices in using social media along with advertising on Facebook and Google.

Goodman described the advantages of using Facebook that has 1.65 billion users and 1.09 active daily users. It is the most used site among all ages and is used by 64 percent of Americans 12 and older. She also gave details on Twitter that serves 310 million and Instagram that is an up and coming site used by many Millennials or Generation Y. Instagram has 400 million users.

Three things Goodman asked Chamber members to consider before the seminar are: What is your brand?, What are your strategic goals for social media?, and to examine and evaluate your present use of social media.

“What is your digital Footprint”: will be held April 12 from 8 – 10 a.m. at the Morrow County Hospital meeting room A. This Chamber sponsored seminar is free. Chamber Director Shelley Plank requests to call the Chamber office to reserve a spot at the seminar since space is limited. Chamber phone is 419-946-2821.
