Strong winds that hit the area throughout much of the day have downed a pole and powerline on the 4000 block of US Route 42 in Mount Gilead.

The Ohio Edison owned utility pole supplies electricity to a number of residences on the road.

The National Weather service’s previously issued a wind advisory, is in effect until 7 p.m.

Southwest winds from 20 to 30 mph are possible, with gusts to 50 mph.

Strong winds may bring down limbs, trees and power lines. Scattered power outages are possible.

Winds of this magnitude can cause minor property damage without extra precautions being taken.

Motorists should use caution, especially motorists in high-profile vehicles.
