During its regular meeting, Cardington Village Council accepted the bid of Kokosing Construction Company for the village’s 2017 Paving program.

The company’s accepted bid was in the amount of $169,323.

In other action, after Village Administrator Danny Wood’s explanation of the problems occurring with the Infiltration and Inflow system at the waste water system, council gave a first reading to an ordinance recommending that he enter into a contract with OHM advisors for the completion of Phase 1 of the Cardington Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Study.

Total cost of this study is $45,500.

Bills totaling $40,162.05 were approved for payment Deb Fry, Fiscal Officer reviewing the summary of revenue for February 1- February 15, 2017, said The RITA taxes have not been received in full at this point and reviewing the cash summary by fund for January, she said “We should receive our real estate tax disbursement in March for the general fund.”

Council members named Mayor Susie Peyton and Fry to the Tax Incentive Review board which is meeting March 2 in the commissioners’ office. May 6 was set for the annual village Garage Sale and May 13 will be Village clean up day.

Council discussed the need for additional speakers in the park area because of the activities that are to be held there this summer. No action was taken. A second reading was given the ordinance adopting the budget for 2017 and the other to make permanent appropriations and other expenses for the village for fiscal year ending December 31, 2017.

Mayor Peyton said there will be an event taking place in the park every weekend this summer. These are being organized by Friends of Cardington She invited people to attend meetings of this group – the next being March 23 at 6 p.m.

Introduced at this meeting was Josh Townsend, Volunteer Cub Scout leader.

Prior to the opening of the business meeting, each council member and village official identified him/ her self and gave their current job status.

Council will meet next on Monday, March 6, at 7 p.m.
