The third annual “Christmas in Cardington” will be celebrated Thursday, Dec. 8, when a variety of activities will be offered for the public’s enjoyment.

Sponsored by Friends of Cardington the evening will begin with a tree lighting ceremony, Christmas caroling, and the arrival of Mary and Joseph at the American Legion Community Park at 6 p.m. Santa Claus will arrive at the same place, same time.

There will be food and entertainment throughout the village. Soup and sandwich supper will be served at the American Legion Hall for a freewill donation.

Mr. Puppet will perform at the Legion Hall from 5 – 7:30 p.m. and the Copy Cats at 6:30 p.m.

The downtown business places will hold open house with refreshments and raffle baskets.

Other attractions include horse drawn wagon rides, a live nativity, Ice Sculptor at the shelter house, the magical adventure of “The Woodland Elves” with Sherry Williamson at the log cabin at 6:30 and again at 7:30 p.m.

Santa will be at the fire house during the evening.

There will be a vintage Christmas display at the Legion Hall and Christmas Star Crafts at the village office.

Ornament decorating will be offered at Suz E Q’s and at Anchor Preservation.

There will be Crafts at the Rotary Community building and CIC building.

Letters to Santa can be mailed at the post office.

The Cardington Brass quartet will entertain. There will be a book signing by Mindy McGinnis, Tim Macekyo and Doug Brown hosted by the Cardington Public Library.

Also offered will be a photo booth and cookie and ornament decorating.

Consolidated Electric is sponsoring an outdoor residential Christmas

light contest with a first place prize of $100; second, $50 and third, $25. 2015 collectible ornaments will be sold at the Legion Hall and the CIC building.
