On the horizon of clubs and not-for-profit organizations in Morrow County, is an upstart has the potential to add depth strength to the leadership of both corporations, community groups and recreational organizations alike. Chris Gabrelcik and Lubrication Specialties Inc., are proud to host Morrow County’s first Toastmasters Club. After joining the Mount Vernon Toastmasters Club over a year ago and experiencing for himself the benefits of membership, Gabrelcik set out to bring those benefits home, and promotion began in late July.

Though the club meets at Lubrication Specialties Inc., 3975 Morrow Meadow Drive, it is an OPEN club, meaning members of the community can come to the bi-weekly meetings and even participate in specific elements of the meetings. Many Toastmasters members have visited multiple times before officially applying to join the club and seeing the growth and confidence associated with full membership.

Toastmasters International is a worldwide nonprofit educational organization that empowers individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders. Headquartered in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., the organization’s membership exceeds 345,000 in more than 15,900 clubs in 142 countries. Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped people from diverse backgrounds become more confident speakers, communicators and leaders.

Morrow County Toastmasters Club meets for a strict 7-8 a.m. agenda, the second, fourth and fifth Wednesdays each month. This central location is a few hundred yards east of I-71, off SR 95. Toastmasters truly is a new gem in our community, because it isn’t just those who participate who benefit. Like refraction of light through a well cut jewel, whenever someone grows in their skill and confidence as a communicator, or as a leader, everyone else that they associate with reap the benefits. Toastmasters, where leaders are made.
