Several met for the first Mount Gilead Public Library Book Club meeting on Thursday Sept. 8 in the third floor of the library.

Each person brought a favorite book to trade and told about the kind of books they like to read.

Readers’ interests among the group varied from mysteries to biographies and historical fiction. Every book club member confessed to being an avid reader. Most admitted to having a stash of books at home that they can’t part with and plan to read.

Annie Fraizer, a library staff member at both Mount Gilead and Cardington Libraries lead the group. The first pick of the group to read for October is “Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern. It is a fantasy novel. One reviewer states, “If you choose to read just one novel this year, this is it.”

Copies are available through the Cool interlibrary loan or other sources if there aren’t copies in the library. The group also submitted suggestions for future reading by the club.

Meetings will be the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the third floor of the library. The next meeting will be Oct. 13. Guests and new members are welcome.
