The Shipmans celebrating 50th anniversary


Danny and Sharon Shipman tied the knot 50 years ago on Sept. 11, 1966. They were married at the Sparta United Methodist Church by pastor Harry Sanders.

Danny has been enjoying his retirement since 2015 after working in engineering for Marion Power Shovel, Gruman Flexible Bus Company, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Olentangy School District.

Sharon is retired from teaching in the Morrow County and the Mount Gilead school systems. She also worked for 12 years in Columbus with financial services.

The couple enjoys hiking, biking, traveling and cheering their grandchildren on at all their sporting and musical events.

The Shipmans will celebrate the occasion this month with their four children and their spouses, as well as their 10 grandchildren.

They are proud parents to: Keith (Trish) Shipman, Kraig (Gwen) Shipman, Shawn (Lacie) Shipman and Kristyn (Dennis) Richardson.

Additionally, they are proud grandparents to: Jenna, Jadyn, Brett, Sawyer, Sy, Selia, Grace and Gauge Shipman, as well as Brody and Avery Richardson.
