Tomorrow Center open house showcases community resources

Thirty-four community agencies and businesses brought displays to the Tomorrow Center open house Thursday. Parents had the opportunity to meet teachers, tour the school and learn about therapeutic programs offered at the Tomorrow Center that is located in Cardington.

Family and Community Coordinator, Susie Sexton said they call the agencies “community partners” because they all work together to serve the students’ needs.

Sandy Williamson was there representing the Morrow County Humane Society. She is enthusiastic about working with students and having them learn about animal behavior and preventing cruelty to animals.

Students held a bake sale and several theme baskets were raffled off to raise money for student activities. Rhea Malone, who is a parent of a foster child at the Tomorrow Center, was excited to see more than 30 gift baskets that were provided by businesses, agencies and individuals to support student activities. She added that many positive things are happening for students at the school this year.

Parents and community residents attended the open house. Some of the community agencies represented include: Ohio Consumer Council, Morrow County Hospital, Marion Technical College, United Way, HEAP, Simply EZ Home delivered meals, MCTC, Help Line, Morrow Family Health Center, Mount Gilead State Park, Headwaters, Gleaners Association,

Cardington Library, Ohio Means Jobs, Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Children’s Services and 16 other businesses and agencies.

The Tomorrow Center serves students in grades six through 12 from Morrow and surrounding counties. Counseling services are available through Central Ohio Mental Health Recovery and Prevention Resources.
