To parallel road construction throughout the county, Mount Gilead is now set to take on its own road repaving project.

Members of the Mount Gilead Village Council approved a measure at its Aug. 15 meeting that will allow Village Administrator Dan Rogers to seek bids for a Cherry Street repaving project.

Rogers said the village will seek bids throughout the month of September.

The project is set to resurface Cherry Street from Marion Street to Park Avenue.

Additionally, Council approved a resolution for Rogers to submit specifications for a village development project to Ohio Public Works Commission.

Rogers said the village’s inquiry to the OPWC is to ask for state funding of a possible water tower painting project.
