Edison Fiscal Officer, Bruce Seaburn shared a letter at the July Edison Council meeting from State Auditor, Dave Yost concerning future audits for the village.
The Auditor has combined several villages and will bid out services for audit work beginning with fiscal year 2015 through 2020.
Edison will be part of a group of small villages including: Ashley, Ostrander, Lockbourne, Danville, Hanover and Sparta. The purpose is to lower the cost for village audits.
The letter from Yost concluded, “With your input, we will be requesting proposals from several Independent Public Accountants (IPA) firms to ensure that you receive the highest quality audit service at the lowest possible price.
IPA firms will bid on services for village audits. The village will be billed by the State Auditor for the costs incurred for several costs of the audit and review.
In regular council business, Street Commissioner, Jerry Reeder reported that workers have pressure washed the village municipal building and are now painting the outside of the building. Council approved a purchase order for $100 for a weed eater.
Council discussed that they are pleased that an old house on Hill Street was recently torn down. The lot has been cleaned up and a new home is being built.
Bill payments for June were approved for $6,926.99 and for July for $3,399.38. The next meeting of the Edison Council will be Aug. 8 at 7 p.m.
