Morrow County Community Center staff named Sherry Webb “Member of the Month.” The Highland High School graduate faces many challenges including living for many years with rheumatoid arthritis. Knee and back surgeries further complicated her life even before she was in an automobile accident.

Webb came to the Community Center in Mount Gilead and was hopeful that working with Personal Trainer, Stephanie Cowles would improve her balance and strength.

“I feel 100 percent better after working with Stephanie for a couple months,” said Webb.

Webb says that she comes to the Community Center to work out three times a week and it has had “many benefits.” She has more energy, has been able to decrease her arthritis meds, sleeps better and, “oh, by the way, my clothes fit better.” That is in addition to achieving her goals of increasing her strength and having better balance.

Webb has lots of praise for her trainer, Cowles. She said Cowles understood what she could do and did no exercises that hurt or could cause injury. She said her physician says the activity is good and encourages her workout program.

“I had limited myself and what I could do and she (Cowles) showed me I could do things and do them well,” Webb said.

Webb appreciates the friendly atmosphere at the Community Center. She said that locations outside the county have sometimes been a hassle and likes the convenience of coming into Mount Gilead from Edison.

Cowles said, “Sherry’s commitment, “can do” attitude, dedication and consistency toward her goals make her stand out. Anyone who gives 110 percent, no matter how they feel, and without complaining, inspires me to be better and work harder. This not only makes her an inspiration, but a joy to work with.”
