In order to further raise the funds necessary to help fight cancer, the Morrow County Health Department, along with Morrow County Job and Family Services, partnered with the Mount Gilead Drug Mart to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

The store recently held a raffle contest for participants to receive an Ohio State University themed gift basket. The effort netted over $1,000 to be donated to the cancer fighting foundation.

Kristi Hardy, manager at the Mount Gilead Drug Mart location, as well as employee Tara Meyers, presented the proceeds from the raffle contest to Janeen Wert, part of the Purple PersuAIDERS Relay For Life team and Brenda Harden, member of the Job and Family Services relay team.

The Morrow County edition of Relay for Life will be held July 22 – 23 beginning at 6 p.m. on July 22 at Gilead Friends Church.

Proceeds from the event will go to assist the American Cancer Society in research, patient services, advocacy, training and other educational programs.
