Virgil Jefferson Varner II will be guest speaker for the July 18 Morrow County TEA Party meeting, 7 p.m. in the Mount Gilead Library Annex, 34 East High Street.

Varner will speak about, the time he served in the Tennessee Guard and was awarded the Command Sergeant Major Award for 2003.

In 2005, he was appointed to the rank of major in the Army Service Branch Pentagon for Homeland Security functions.

Although sent to Baghdad, Iraq, as an Electrical Engineer yet he was tasked to finish the build of a $ 2.2 billion project.

Varner will talk about what he has seen firsthand.
