Highland’s FFA officers: Alex Mason, Hannah Williams, Gracie Hinkle, Bridget Oder, Cailin Smith, Chandler Bumpus, Dalton Lee, Tyler Williams and Lucy Smith, as well as Highland’s FFA advisors Joe Smith, and Sarah Reynolds, took their annual trip on June 7 – 9 to Bowerston, Ohio to stay at the FFA retreat center.

During this trip, officers learned how to get along better as an officer group.

Throughout the trip they planned upcoming events, set both chapter and officer team goals, honed in on their leadership skills, and conquered any doubts or fears each individual may of had or face during the next upcoming school year.

They completed both high and low ropes courses , and many team challenges.

Most importantly they had fun getting to know each other better during activities they conducted during their free time.

Such activities included: fort building in the living room, campfires, flashlight tag after all sessions were complete, kayaking in the lake, and many “unplanned” water fights.

As the time to leave came near, the officer team came to the realization that not only are they expected to be thermostats, but they are going to be pigs not chickens.

By the end of the trip all officers gained new responsibilities, became more comfortable in their individual and team roles, and became closer as friends.

They have set higher expectations for themselves and for the chapter as a whole, and left feeling accomplished.
