The first annual 5K Sweet Corn Run will be held Saturday, July 16. Sign in begins at 7:30 a.m. with start time at 8:30 a.m.

The starting line is at the Municipal Swimming Pool in Mount Gilead on the corner of Park Avenue and Cherry Street.

The course out and back is a fairly flat blacktop surface. Past Community Center 5K runs have been in October. The Community Center board decided to have the 5K in July so area high school cross-country runners can participate.

There is a $15 entry fee for adults and $10 fee for youth. After July 8, the adult fee will be $18 and the youth fee $12. The registration forms for entry are at the Morrow County Community Center at 16 S. Main Street in Mount Gilead. The first 50 to register will get a free race T-shirt.

Medals will be given to the top two female and male finishers in eight age groups. There will also be door prizes awarded and a free Morrow County Community Center membership given immediately after the race.

For more information and to get a registration form, stop in the Community Center at 16 S. Main St. in Mount Gilead or call at 419-947-2100.
