Marengo – Bennington Glen is pleased to announce the introduction of an important new program to help speed recovery and improve function for individuals who have recently had knee, hip or other joint replacement procedures. The program uses advanced rehabilitation techniques to help reduce pain and swelling, while building strength and mobility. According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, more than half a million hip and knee replacements are performed each year. These procedures are often successful in reducing pain and restoring function in joints that have been severely compromised by arthritis, or other chronic conditions. Unfortunately, many patients recovering from these surgeries may continue to experience pain, swelling and stiffness in their new joint that can inhibit recovery and participation of normal activities.
“Providing great patient care is the guiding principle for all that we do,” said Jim Deel, Facility Administrator. “Our new Joint Replacement Recovery is intended to help residents and others in the community regain their independence and improve quality-of-life.”
Bennington Glen’s new Joint Replacement Recovery Program is non-invasive and medication free. It utilizes specialized therapeutic equipment that has been used effectively with the geriatric population for over a decade and among professional athletes for nearly 30 years to accelerate recovery following injury. The treatment program is covered by most insurance providers, including Medicare.
“With joint replacement becoming increasingly common, our program was developed to help get people back on their feet and return to the activities they enjoy” said Amanda McFarland, Therapy Program Manager at Bennington Glen. “We want the community and our area medical professionals to know we are committed to quality care and progressive therapy techniques. Our new treatment program for joint replacement is just another example of that ongoing commitment.”
