COLUMBUS – A Lima man was sentenced Thursday to 22 years in prison for child sex charges.
Addison R. Richardson, 24, was sentenced in U.S. District Court on charges of coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity and attempted coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity, the U.S. attorney’s office in Columbus reported.
Richardson pleaded guilty to the charges on Jan. 30. During his change of plea, Richardson admitted to using the Internet and a cell phone to engage in a sexual conversation with a 14-year-old boy who lived in northern Ohio, the U.S. attorney’s office reported.
Lima Police Department officers and FBI agents from Lima assisted in the investigation, along with other agencies.
Richardson also said he traveled to a home in northern Ohio where he engaged in sexual activity with the boy. During conversations with the boy, Richardson asked the boy to send nude photographs of himself, which the boy did, the U.S. attorney’s office reported.
He also admitted to communicating by email and text messages with someone who turned out to be an undercover police officer posing as the father of 14- and 9-year-old boys. During those communications, he said he desired to engage in various illegal sexual acts with minor children and that he had traveled to Columbus for the purpose of having sex with the children, the U.S. attorney’s office reported.
When Richardson arrived in Columbus, the Franklin County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested him, the U.S. attorney’s office reported.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather Hill said the sentence against Richardson should serve as a deterrent to any criminal considering illegal sexual conduct with minors in Ohio. She said they will face a severe prison sentence.
