The February activities of the Morrow County TEA Party (a non-partisan organization) started with the study group meeting on February 4. The study group currently is studying “Proclaim Liberty Throughout all the Land” which includes the 28 Principles of Liberty and the meaning of the Constitution. This is an ongoing study meeting on the first Tuesday of each month. This study is structured so a person can join in at any time. Call 419-946-3133 for more information.
The regular meeting of the local constitutional conservatives on February 17 opened with Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
A report was given on state legislation that the group is following. Also reported were highlights of a Brandon Smith article found at personalliberty.com stated there is no easy solution to the problem involving a criminal government run by corporatist oligarchs bent on total globalization and centralized control of finance, society and law. So many Americans today are so busy waiting for a white knight to come to save them that they have forgotten to learn how to save themselves. He says “stop being followers and start becoming leaders within your own communities.”
A hand-out “The New World of OBAMACARE” which includes a complex flowchart illustrating the new health care system was distributed to attendees. This flowchart highlights the mandates, programs, and agencies being implemented in the health care reform law. Question: Is there a difference between health Insurance and health care?
The constitution question for the night was actually two related questions: Which branch of the government is granted exclusive law making (legislative) powers? Answer: Congress! “All legislative power herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and a House of Representatives.” Source: Article 1, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution. The second question: Are executive orders constitutional? Answer: NO. Executive orders are not in the constitution. Originally executive orders were issued by the president or department heads for the internal operations and policies of the executive branch of the government and ONLY affected employees of the executive branch, much like an inter-office memorandum. But presidents eventually began to use executive orders to increase their influence and power over Congress. Executive orders have been allowed to evolve into making laws or changes to the laws that affect everyone. (Writer’s Opinion: This should have been stopped by Congress when the Executive Branch started overstepping their bounds as stated in Article 1, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution. If the gutless congresses did not do their job then WE THE PEOPLE should.)
The speaker for the evening was Baylor Myers, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) Ohio, a conservative issue advocacy group. AFP can approve or support issues and policies, but not candidates. They have offices in 36 states. Recently they have been focused on swing states like Ohio and Florida. He explained how AFP Ohio plans can assist citizens in fighting issues particularly at the local level, and he described several examples of their success in Ohio. Myers stated that there are one million unregistered eligible voters in Ohio and 1,000 unregistered in Morrow County.
Movie Night, February 18, showed “Hunger Games”. Despite rumors of cannibalism there is none of that in this movie. The film depicts our nation after the progressives gain total control. Pray this does not happen. Movie Night at this time is scheduled on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. The next Movie Night is Tuesday, March 18, at the home of Nelson and Annette Hack. Shown at 7:00 P.M. will be “Kirk Cameron Presents MONUMENTAL”. Questions? Call 419-946-3133.
The next regular meeting of the Morrow County TEA party is March 17, 7:00 p.m., at the Mount Gilead Library Annex, 34 E. High Street in the rear. All activities of the Morrow County TEA Party are open to the public and all are welcome.
Way before the term “politically correct” there was a term “freedom of speech” and every American had it!
