Parenting Class for Parents of Blended Families

February 11, 2014

Parent Talk, a class that focuses on issues all parents face in teaching kids discipline, responsibility, and confidence, will be offered for four consecutive Mondays beginning March 3 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The class, provided by TouchPointe Marriage & Family Resources, will be held in room 103 of the former Fredericktown High School, 117 Columbus Rd.

Parent Talk, facilitated by Dale & Janet Anthony, will focus on the issues faced with parents involved in a second marriage and special emphasis will be given to relationship building between the step-parent and the children. Most couples do not realize that the relationship will take many months and even years for children to build trust with the step parent. Ample time will be given each class session for discussion of what works, what doesn’t, and what’s appropriate for the developmental stage of the child. Classes are open to anyone in the area. Call 740-485-5408 to register. More information can be found at the group’s website:

The Anthony’s are trained facilitators who have three biological children; two additional children adopted from foster care and have been foster parents to 27 other children. In their spare time they enjoy their six grandchildren. They have received training in the area of step-parenting from Ron Deal, a nationally known author and therapist specializing in blended families.

TouchPointe Marriage and Family Resources focuses on strengthening family relationships through educational classes related to marriage and parenting. The goal is to help create healthy marriages, healthy families, and healthy communities.
